2021 Zsa Zsa Zweigelt

Gold
Berlin Wine Trophy, Germany
Gold
AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge, Austria

Hahndorf Hill is proud to be Australia’s first producer of Zweigelt, Austria’s beloved red variety.

The wine displays a deep garnet hue with youthful purple edges. The nose is perfumed with vibrant crushed raspberries, cherries and subtle spice. The palate is lively and juicy, showcasing fresh red fruits, gentle spice and well-structured tannins.

An ideal companion to pork, chicken, salads and tomato-based dishes — but above all, lamb’s perfect match.

This wine will age gracefully until 2030.

“An unusual variety in Australia but one handled well by the Austrian-leaning wine offering at Hahndorf Hill. Beautiful perfume of pure blueberry with whiffs of violets, some dried herbs and minty elements. Spot-on. The palate has some zip to it, good energy of blueberry/boysenberry fruit characters meshed to alpine herbal/Ricola lolly lift coupled to fine, grainy tannins and a pool of juniper-like flavour to finish. It’s quite light on, charming with its fine detail, and all up, and straight up, delicious.”

“Floral and perfumed, with aromas of red and black wild berries, potpourri, sandalwood, spices, smoked game and beets. The palate is mid-weighted with crunchy tannins, bright acidity and a firm yet plush and fruit-driven finish. Really delicious."
